Fort Bragg Rock Fishing (16+ pound Ling Cod)

Your video is loading please wait 5 seconds

Author: neversat
Description: Fish WERE harmed in the making of this video, but none went to waste. :) Rock fishing out of Fort Brag, California on the Trek II (http://www.anchorcharterboats.com/the-trek-ii). Evan's 16+ pound Ling Cod was the biggest fish and earned him the jackpot. Our fellow fishermen were snickering at us for bringing our Okuma spinning gear, but once we started landing big fish, nobody was laughing. I was using 40 pound braided line on an Okuma Salina Baitfeeder reel and an Ugly Stick Tiger. Evan was rocking 30 pound braided line on an Okuma Avenger reel with the Okuma Nomad 3-piece travel rod. Falling asleep with this crowd is not recommended unless you fancy having fish attractant dripped onto your crotch or sea cucumbers thrown on you. http://jessewright.com

Hey Willow. Rock Cod is just the local name for these guys, we also call them snapper and Pacific Rockfish, but they are neither snapper nor true cod. They come from the same family as scorpion fish.

Weird looking cod, the North sea has cod but different in markings & colour to these. as for the ling- totally different fish

Check your species some of those might be illeagal

Definitely looked like a Yelloweye being gaffed...

nice catch guys, looks like fun!!!

Lol agree with envsmajor on the lings..and looks like atleast one of those were a yelloweye rockfish...how long ago was this video made?

fish are put here to be eaten...

That's a nice ling you caught! Pound for pound, I think they are the meanest fish in the sea... and one of the best tating!

That's a nice ling you caught! Pound for pound, I think they are the meanest fish in the sea. It did look like a short ling was gaffed at one point in the video. I'm not sure where you were fishing but gaffing any undersized fish is illegal in California... the crew on that boat better be careful about that practice or they're going to get the captain and themselves in some hot water.
