X.O Senavoe (aka NoHairDontCare) is a rapper/songwriter who with 6 months in the game is already being considered one of the top 5 rappers out of Africa. His sound is liberating; unique and fresh. Utilizing double and triple entendres, as well as intelligible lyrics, his flow combines the accessibility and deftness of Jay-Z , Drake or with the lyricism of say, a Nas. No hype.
With only 2 released tracks, he is being touted as the best lyricist alive by most. His first track, a freestyle to Maybach music, aptly titled Taxi Music, garnered critical acclaim on many major music sites including one of the most prominent, Notjustok.com. The flow was smooth. The play on words - Maddening. An underground cult following was born. If Taxi music, sparked an interest, the second track, Victory, added fuel to the fire. The second ever X.O track, Victory picked up where Taxi Music left off exciting every set of ears that heard it and creating even more buzz around X.O's music. All the interest created by X.O's music led to stories on USA today, Ladybrille Magazine and Bella Naija as well as being the first track on popular African DeeJay, DJ Neptune's latest mixtape.
His first LP, "X point 0" is scheduled to drop, January 2011 and the sky is the limit for X.O's music.
Comments from top-shots in the naija music industry:
"You guys need 2 know bout the newest, but still one of the hottest playas in the game. He is 'xtra ordinary "X.O VOE"aka NoHairDontCare....I think he is the best lyricist I have ever heard, he's a breath of fresh air, a loopy brova and an unofficial choc boy..." --MI (Mr Incredible) Abaga
"On "Victory", X.O uses a combination of Nelson Mandela speeches on the hook to embody the theme of the song. I'm fighting so hard not to overdo the "hype" but I feel this Naija/Ghana/UK/Yankee representa is lyrically deeper than M.I." -- Ovie O, Notjustok.com
"I am humbled, once again, for the privilege to be at the beginning of a career of an emerging personality, who in this case, will be America's Next Hip-Hop Star, period! You better believe the hype! America, Africa, stand up!" -- Uduak Oduok, Ladybrille Magazine
With the release of X.O's third single THE POWER he proves to everyone that he is a formidable force to be reckoned with both internationally and at home. With world play that shows his mental dexterity and yet reaching every single individual X.O presents The Power.
